AS and A2 End of Year Exhibition...

Wednesday 15th June is the private view for the 6th form exhibition. This year we are showing in Mash Gallery in St Helens Town Centre which houses many collectives from film groups, to Street Artists and Photographers.

Our exhibition has been named 17 after the amount of artists involved and their age! It promises to be a wide mixture of genres, from painting to film and graphic design.

Mash is an amazing place to visit and spend an afternoon in the ecclectic coffee shop drinking too much tea! It is less than one minutes walk from St Helens Central train station, opposite LeFrog Restaurant, and is open Monday-Saturday 9-5pm.

London day trip...

We have a trip to London booked for Saturday 5th March which will cost £22 return. All GCSE and ALevel students are invited to attend, and it is stressed that this trip will be a great experience as well as being of great importance to your work. The galleries we will visit include Tate Modern and The National Gallery, if we have time we will try to fit in Tate Britain too. All links to these galleries are found to the right of the blog, it is a good idea to research what styles of art you will find in these spaces so you are prepared for the art work you will see. It is the best experience of both modern, contemporary and traditional art you will fit into one day and will supply you with the opportunity to take photographs, sketches, information and first hand experience of London.
Please do not miss this chance to visit our capital for such a low price, see Miss Kay or Miss Eyres as soon as possible to book a place.

Exam time...

Its nearly exam time again, so by now you should have done substantial research into your artists, designers and crafts people to collect ideas on technique, materials and processes you may want to use. Now is the time to find out as much as possible to help you in your own exam, so use as many sources as are available to research from- books, newspapers, magazines, Internet, text, photography and observational drawing if possible.
Be prepared for your exam day, having tried out ideas, produced models of 3D work and examples of computer design. It is called preparation for good reason,
and you don't get this opportunity with other subjects so use this time well!
If there are any issues or problems see Miss Kay or Miss Eyres, and good luck!
